Remembering our place as people of Earth. A perspective for Earth week.
“We were all Earth’s peoples once. We are something else now… We have forgotten that we have forgotten… Meanwhile, the trees never stopped whispering. The streams kept singing. The birds kept speaking their praise.” — True Human
We’ve learned how to “succeed” in the world.
But somewhere along the way,
we lost touch with how to belong to it.
We’ve become efficient. Capable.
Connected in so many ways.
And yet, something feels distant.
As if we’re slightly outside of life,
looking in.
But nothing in nature is separate.
The trees don’t try to dominate the forest.
The rivers don’t try to control the land.
The animals don’t hunt endlessly.
Everything participates.
Everything belongs.
And maybe we do too.
Do we still belong to the Earth?
