How much of your life are you living on autopilot?

Our first step towards true freedom is cultivating awareness. Without awareness, we don’t know how we leak our personal power. Without awareness, we identify with our thoughts, we identify with limited identities, we become so submerged in the ocean of activity that we don’t know who we are when we stop moving.
It’s one of the reasons I created the space for weekly meditations so we can cultivate greater awareness of what’s happening both externally and internally.
Without awareness, we don’t know why we do what we do, why our reactions are what they are, much less where they originate from. Without awareness, we can walk through this life like zombies. Breathing, but unconscious.
We’ve all experienced these moments before. It’s why we can drive through half the city and realize our brains actually went elsewhere. It’s why we can have a particular reaction towards a person or circumstance without understanding where it came from. It’s why we avoid the difficult topics in life and instead choose what’s comfortable or familiar because it feels safe. In doing so , what we’re really doing is avoiding life.
When we were born, we didn't know how we got here, what’s happening around us and who we’re surrounded by.
As we get older, learn more about the people and environment around us, we start to become comfortable with what we become familiar with. And with that comfort, we started getting into a particular rhythm.
That rhythm formed our daily habits and soon we started taking things for granted. We start to live in a form of auto pilot with the habits and attitudes that we adopted along the way. Our brains were just being efficient with the energy available.
If we want to be free and become less dependent, the first thing we need to do is raise our level of awareness - both externally and internally.
