The challenge of our times - would love to hear your perspective!

I've been reflecting on some of the larger shifts happening in the world. It feels increasingly clear that many challenges we face aren't isolated problems but symptoms of a deeper paradigm reaching its limits.

For generations, economic prosperity has been built around ever-increasing growth and consumption. That has undoubtedly improved billions of lives, yet much suffering remains. On a planet with finite resources, I'm struggling to see how that model can continue indefinitely and actually help life flourish responsibly. Today, we are intent on converting the Earth and its resources into dollars in a bank account at an ever-increasing rate. We're already seeing many clear signs of ecological distress, including extreme heat, droughts, floods and fires everywhere. The underlying foundations of life are more fragile than ever. 

At the same time, we're living through significant political and technological shifts. Existing centers of power seem increasingly determined to preserve control as old assumptions are challenged and I believe this dynamic will increase further as we realize more ecological damage. And AI is giving humanity extraordinary new capabilities that could either contribute to greater human flourishing or become tools for greater concentration of power, domination and control.

All of this has me wondering whether the work ahead is bigger than solving these problems individually. 

What might a new paradigm for flourishing of life actually look like?

One where we can live prosperous, meaningful lives without requiring

endless growth in consumption.

Where technology serves life rather than life becoming subordinate to technology. 

Where our political and economic institutions support well-being rather than simply maximizing growth, wealth, or power. 

This is not a challenge that any one of us can solve on our own but if enough of us engage meaningfully, it will matter significantly for our lives and even more importantly, for the lives of our children and future generations!

So to that end I have a request for you - Do you know of leaders, thinkers, or organizations seriously wrestling with these questions to create a better paradigm? I'd love to connect with and/or create a community of people who would like to contribute to this work.

I also believe inner transformation is one of the foundations for the larger transformation our world now needs. Part of building wiser systems will require us to become wiser human beings. I've been writing a book on this very topic - overcoming the persistent restlessness that something external will finally fulfill us. 

Because when billions of us look to "more" for fulfillment, our individual restlessness becomes collective restlessness. We create economies and cultures organized around the same endless pursuit. My hope with the book is to help people recognize and evolve beyond this core restlessness so we can become wiser about what we create, what we pursue and what truly leads to fulfillment.
